waiting
Oh fool that my heart
is
and I, that I should believe it
Yet some force inexplicably
draws me closer, or pushes, perhaps
God's hands closing the distance
Do I dare to hope
love finds me here, waiting,
an impatient guest
Or mayhap an idle thought
or daydream - if it is so,
may nothing e'er start me
from this sweet reverie
that speeds the days happy by
Another season, another hour,
my thoughts turn to face you
The mind argues, but the heart
Resolute. "What is to be,
will be. Think
of lilies and birds
and care not for the morrow."
Mind, pacified, is quiet.
Heart resumes its quiet, peaceful watch.
It knows to share an eternity
would be to short
Yet another moment without its
longed for is too long.
